Favorite Class Lecture #2

My second favorite class lecture with Professor Brady was the discussion on perception. Perception is how we see ourselves, as well as how others see us. This lecture was in relation with the story "A Street Car Named Desire" written by Tennessee Williams. In the story one of the characters Blanche puts on this facade that helps her live the life she's always wanted. Blanche doesn't want to grow old so she dresses young and wears makeup. Inside Blanche a broken person so much has happened in her life that she dresses up puts on her make up to cover her hurt within. Blanche desires a lavish lifestyle, with a man in a careless world. In the beginning of scene 1 when Blanche is introduced she is portrayed as this elegant almost angelic poise woman. She is dressed in white proving her innocence to others around her. Blanche has nothing to live for, All she has is loss and her sister. From this lecture I've learned that the way that you perceive yourself is the same way that others with perceive you in society. You should learn to just be who your are not what others want you to be.

I was never much of a writer until I met professor Mignano Brady. I always wrote what the assignment asked got my grade and that was it. Once entering Professor Bradys class in September she really helped me understand why we write, So much in fact I took her class second semester! You don't write just to do the work you're assigned you write because it makes you think. Something Professor Mignano  Brady said on the first day of class that has stuck with me ever since is, "Those who read well, write well, do well". Writing hasn't only developed my mind its made me think of things in ways I never thought possible, and all the inspiration from this class I will carry with me forever. WRITE ON!!

After having Professor Brady in the Fall Semester I wasn't sure she was going to be able to top English 101. Going in to English 102 with her I had high expectations as to what we were going to be doing. It is safe to say that at the end of the semester I LOVED IT!!!!! The stories we read always kept me entertained especially "A Street Car Named Desire" Written by Tennessee Williams. The topics discussed aren't just for the classroom, I carried those discussions home with me to my family talking for hours about relevant topics in society today. The papers we were given didn't just ask for analysis on what you read, but what feeling that particular story evoked in you leaving you to express yourself freely. There was never a dull moment in English 102, and I am forever changed and moved by Professor Bradys devotion to not only her work, but her students. Favorite Class Lecture #3

My third favorite class lecture in Professor Bradys class was on Egalitarianism. Egalitarianism is the idea that all men are created equal; that are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In this lecture we discussed the 4 major institutions in which we seek equality. The four institutions are Government, Family, Religion, and Education. An absence in egalitarianism can result in either the de-humanization, dis-Enfranchisement, or isolation of oneself. All of these examples boil down to a much larger example and that is oppression. Oppression on a person can be detrimental to the self, and the identity within that person. Not allowing that person to express themselves evokes a feeling that they are not good enough for those around them in society.
